Disappointing
First time in my life I walked out of a movie theater in the middle of the movie. Not much plot. I kept waiting for something to happen. Disappointing. I am a fan of Adam Sandler, but this was Adam Sandler's worst. Vulgar not humorous.

I actually approached this movie very cautiously. If you view this movie more as a drama with comedians it is actually pretty good. Also, it can be very funny at times. All in all very amusing and entertaining. B

Apatow's movies just keep getting better. They seem to be getting a little more dramatic, as was the case with this film. If you like the art of comedy and stand-up, you're gonna love this movie. A lot of comedians (both "old school" and new) have cameos in this flick and it was really great to see all of them in one movie. It just shows the realistic and human side of all the characters, and life in general. as opposed to the fairy tale and ideal endings that apatow's previous movies have had.

I avoided all of the previews for this movie, but I still felt somewhat prepared for what I was about to watch. I got most of what I expected, including Adam Sandler's recipe for success and Seth Rogen's ability to make you see his point of view, and be hilarious in the process. It was extremely funny, I just felt that it lost focus at some points for too long. It also went on somewhat unnecessarily for 2 and a half hours. They could have cut a good 40 minutes of footage and it would have been crammed full of crunchy goodness. I was forced to deduct a star because of this and the unnecessary drama. Nonetheless, I watched it with the hope of getting a few laughs and I got a lot of them. If you like the idea of Sandler and Rogen trading punchlines throughout the film, not to mention appearances by a swarm of guest stars, you'll really like this one. If you don't mind a little drama thrown in with your comedies, you'll love it. It's a solid 4 stars in my book.

The beginning is funny, but then it runs about 45 minutes too long, as you'll read in countless other reviews. Maybe you'll have some laundry to fold for the second half, or homework to do or something.

I was disappointed in Funny People. I think Adam Sandler and the cast are great actors. The movie has the shortcomings that other reviewers have already noted (and I won't repeat them). My disappointment was not with the meandering side plots. My disappointment was simply with the sheer VULGARITY of the movie. I used to be a sailor in the US NAVY where hard language is a given. However, this movie puts any sailor to shame. I did not even finish the movie. I gave it a ONE star... and that was being generous.
