A Political Science major I love these types of movies. But, given the Hollywood glaze that most movies have usually makes them not only lacking in historical accuracy but successful dramatization. I did like this very much however. Frank Langella wasn't perfect but he was pretty damn close on the impression, but his acting was perfect. It's not the most exciting of story-lines for feature films but Ron Howard did a great job with it. I give it a B+.

Frost/Nixon starts-off like a documentary, turns into a boxing match, escalates to a war and finishes with a handshake between two men at peace. It's fierce, funny, and fantastic. Credit director Ron Howard and a marvelous performance from Frank Langella as Richard Nixon for this masterpiece.
A colleague pointed out that Nixon comes off looking like a horrible president who never accomplished anything in office, and all he did was Watergate. I imagine plenty of others took away the same view of Nixon. I didn't.
Nixon is shown as a troubled man. It's never more obvious than in his late-night drunken phone call to Frost's hotel room. Here is a man whose life was spent trying to live up to expectations, at all costs. Those goals were always unattainable, and he need to set his own expectations, not live up to anyone else's. He never did that, and subsequently always felt inadequate.
Frost/Nixon is tremendous, and contains much more than a simple dramatic documentation of the Nixon interviews. It's a human drama at its core. It gives us two men, who thought they knew who they were, and takes them on a journey of actual self-realization. At the end, they're both for the better. Five stars.

Really good story that keeps your interest consistent throughout.

A Must-See Movie
This movie is so full of great performances that if the Oscars handed out a best Ensemble award it would have gone to this film. With such amazing performances from Langella and Michael Sheen it is hard to beleive that the esemble could compare. But with great supporting actors the film is a winner from start to finish. In suspense that in no way feels cheap or forced you come along for the ride as we witness the battle of two superpowers in a hunt for the truth. The movie will leave you breathless and give your mind a work out with out being in any way pretentious or demanding. If you hated history in high school you will still love this film, for it is as alive and vibrant as any movie set in the modern day.

Langella is just great in this role, I'm very surprised he didn't win an Oscar for this. He so fully becomes Nixon rather than trying to do his impression of a Nixon that it makes the movie a treat to watch and see him unravel. The story boils down to the leadup to the three days of David Frost's interview with Richard Nixon - and even if you're not interested in politics, watching these characters play verbal chess is very entertaining. Michael Sheen plays a great Frost and the entire supporting cast are all excellent. I watched the bits of the real life Frost/Nixon interview on the DVD and it was interesting to watch how true the scenes were.
