Force 10 From Navarone, 1978

I predict that adults won't enjoy this one very much since it lacks realism and tension since the main actors are constantly being coy, similar to the James Bond movies of the time. The conflicts in the story don't build up to a climax, but rather just come and go as the movie rolls along. Like other reviewers have said, this has no essential likeness or plot connection to the far superior "Guns of Navarone"--it's bizarre why they gave it this title. The special effects don't hold up very will here in 2008, and unfortunately, there's not much left to admire about this movie. I give it 2 stars because I am a man, after all. The disk I received had poor image quality (sky and other light areas were excessively noisy like an untuned analog station, and even though it was two sided, the wide screen version is not anamorphic and will thus fit in side the 4:3 box of your wide screen television (unless you tell your TV to "zoom" the DVD picture). I don't think the studios have mastered any other DVD version, so this is all that's available.
