I'm so disappointed in this film. There's so much there to like--Johnny Depp and Kate Winslett, the period, the sets, the costumes, the story--yet ultimately I was more bored by it than anything else.

Finding Neverland tells the story of J.M. Barrie and the inspiration for his play Peter Pan, and it tells it well. Although there may have been a few moments that were a bit too melodramatic, the overall film was superb. It was the perfect blend of reality and fantasy that should leave every viewer with a sense of awe. Ultimately, the creative team behind Finding Neverland makes you believe.
The highlight of the film is easily the acting. Everyone involved gave what could easily be considered their best performance yet. From well known actors like Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet to relative newcomers like Radha Mitchell to unknowns (but not anymore!) like Freddie Highmore, the casting was perfect. The onscreen relationships and chemistry were completely believable. It was refreshing to see to main characters fall in love without any kind of sexual undertones whatsoever.
The direction and production were perfectly suited to the film. Finding Neverland's balance of realism and fantasy showed the viewer the inside of Barrie's mind, without leaving the real world. The director manages to transition between the real and the fantastic seamlessly and with no disorienting effects. The score was absolutely wonderful and I'll be tracking it down on CD very soon. I don't say that too often.
In short, Finding Neverland is a wonderful movie for all ages. The acting is top notch across the board. Not only does it give the viewer some insight into Barrie's mind when creating Peter Pan, it will make you believe.

Johnny Depp far out does himself in this movie as the playwright, J.M. Barrie. Kate Winslet has a good perfomance but, unfortunately, I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Sat. and coming off of her amazing performance in that movie, this one pales in comparison. This movie is a tear-jerker and probably the feel-good movie of the holiday season. I was impressed with the story as well as the acting by adults and children alike. I did catch myself checking my watch once, but only once.
Nothing of consequence that would make this movie unfit for children. Very clean movie.
This was an excellent movie, but a little slow-paced at times.

I almost didnt watch this movie, expecting it to be a story dragged through to the bitter end solely by Johnny Depp's character. Refreshingly this story is about much more than just one person.

I had high hope for this movie because the idea of it seemed so neat. Unfortunately, it was slow and was a big let down - wonderful actors who couldnt save the awful script and pace of the movie.
