The movie doesn't try to understand why these two are attracted to each other. Attraction is sometimes unexplainable. You have to admit that "football widow" is a commonly understood term, so it must happen a lot. So don't worry about that part. The movie is hilarious. Americans should turn on the subtitles. The accents are not hard to understand, but there's a lot of football jargon, and the subtitles will help you understand it. Don't worry that you don't know anything about soccer. Combine a Cubs fan or Mets fan with the biggest American football fanatic you know, and you'll understand the main character. Laugh yourself silly.
