E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, 1982

I'm 19 years old, so I wasn't yet born when this film was made, but I just watched it again a couple weeks ago and it made me feel like a kid again. Remember when you watched movies for the love of story, to laugh, cry and be entertained? When you grow up, you become a tough critic, and you forget what really matters in a film, or what mattered to you when you most enjoyed it. Spielberg has made some of the most unforgettable characters of all time, made stories flow beautifully and energetically, and really knows how to tug at your heart in the end. To say this movie is childish is blasphemous. We all need to lighten up once in a while.

I only watched this for the first time at 23, but I think it's a great film for kids. The story is very touching and the friendship between Elliott and E.T is probably something that children can relate to even better than adults. But it's a very fun movie for everyone - the kids can enjoy the simple plot and the adults can see the Freudian hints... A good fantasy - even if you're not a Spielberg fan.
