OK, here's all you need to know: if you have ever enjoyed Al Pacino's acting in any movie he's ever done, what you were enjoying is a watered-down version of this performance. When people talk about Al Pacino, THIS is what they are talking about....

Powerful performance by Pacino
Al Pacino shows why he is one of the great actors in this intense thriller by Sidney Lumet. Based on a true story of a bank robbery, this is a witty and moving portrayal of a man at the end of his rope. You can't help but be moved by Pacino's powerful performance and by his characters unfortunate plight. Lumet is a master at creating profound scenes and lasting moments, and Dog Day Afternoon is another fine example of his genius.
