Summary of Deprisa, deprisa

Years before American audiences were shocked by the independent hit KIDS, Carlos Saura created this gritty work about the juvenile delinquents of Madrid. Three teen boys adrift in a wasteland of crime, cars, and drugs team up with a waitress who knows how to handle a pistol. This motley crew embark on a robbery spree that soon turns deadly and the gang's dreams of the easy life spirals into a nightmare. This provocative and violent film marked a transition for Saura. The realism and documentary filmmaking style in evidence here replaced his previous work which was more rooted in the fantastical. Two members of the principle cast were arrested for separate criminal incidents during the filming, causing a stir in their Spanish homeland.
