DEFINITELY, MAYBE: I have always loved watching movies starring RACHEL WEISZ, This is one of my favorite movies and I highly recommend it. RACHEL always give 100%, and her acting is always very convincing and spot on. I give this movie 5*****STARS.

As a heterosexual man who believes that romantic comedy is a genre that rarely produces anything worth watching, I can safely say to my testicled brethren that if your female counterpart puts 'Definitely Maybe' in the DVD player there is no need to run. I'm not saying that this is something that a normal man will necessarily like but one that is open to cinematic experiences without any guns or explosions might. If you want to impress your date and perhaps get your fondle on (It worked for me!), this is a great choice that might not make you cringe.

To the reviewer from Gloucester, Mass., below: Since both of your reviews on the NetPhlix site complain about the disc's skipping, I think you should consider the possibility that IT IS YOUR PLAYER? Two different discs, same problem. I suspect it's time for a new player, but even if there was something wrong with the disc, I'm quite sure NetPhlix rents out more than one copy. I don't think they're passing around that one scratched copy among 13 million users. Not everyone who rents this movie is going to have your problem, rendering it an invalid review argument. In any case, my good man, there has got to be a more fruitful way to solve your technical issues than writing a review here that no one really has the capability of answering. For instance, I'm writing a review trying to help you now, annoying everyone, and it takes two days before it posts. Let's say I wrote "Did you try wiping the disc off?" If by some miracle you read it and answered "Yes" that's four days, minimum. "Is the DVD player plugged in?", "Yes", four more days. So to establish that the DVD is right side up, we're probably looking at a month. For anything but the most simple problem it would probably take decades to find a solution. See what I'm saying? In your Queue, just click "Report Problem". Much more efficient, no? (To the rest of you: "Definitely, Maybe" is definitely a good movie, no maybes about it. I cried at one point. It was embarrassing.)

The story begins with a likeable guy in the middle of a divorce. He picks his daughter up from school and she starts repeating the words "thrust" and "p*nis" after having gotten the sex talk at school. (is that supposed to be cute?) She asks about how he met her mother and why he's divorcing her, and he tells her the long drawn out tale of lost love and depression. The story is fairly crass featuring lots of sleeping around, cheating, betrayal, and other lower human instincts. The movie ends with the divorce getting finalized and the daughter trying to get him to hook up with one of his ex girlfriends.
If you liked Love Actually, a crass movie featuring nudity, swearing, and a liberal interpretation of love, (homosexuals, polygamy, etc) then you'll probably like this.

All the actors in the film are excellent, in fact Reynolds is likely the least convincing, but it's not so bad you'd shut it down. While the story is a bit overly done and the movie tends to bog down in the middle, it's the quest to find out who the mother is that keeps you in it. There's a happy ending to wrap it all up and so you end up feeling good after the movie is over and we all like that dont' we?

The leading actresses and charming and believable, with greater substance than the collection of women in 'Because I Said So'.
