I don't like hip-hop music, I didn't know most of the musicians in the movie, but I still enjoyed it. I really liked the message that the musicians and Dave were trying to get across. If you're not a big fan of rap/hip-hop because of the violent nature then you will be pleasantly surprised by the music. It talks about tolerance, equality, love, peace, and compassion, Dave even interrupts a rap competition to scold the crowd for booing the pseudo-rapper. I'm not going to run out and buy their CDs, but it was interesting to be exposed to music I'd not normally have listened to; I think it's important to be exposed to different cultures, especially ones that go against stereotypes and this movie shows a real picture of a minority community rather than some Hollywood stereotype of it. Just go in with an open mind about the music and you should appreciate the comedy, music, and social messages of the movie.

I was hesitant to watch this movie, not being a fan of rap/hip-hop music, but the odd paring of director Michel Gondry and Dave Chappelle works wonderfully.
