Having worked with the homeless, i expected to be really moved by this film and i just wasn't... on the other hand, perhaps i would have been more moved if it was my first exposure of the realities of life on the street...
anyway, i liked it, but,...

Having worked with the homeless, i expected to be really moved by this film and i just wasn't... on the other hand, perhaps i would have been more moved if it was my first exposure of the realities of life on the street...
anyway, i liked it, but, considering how much time he had with these people, one would think there would be a lot more story, a lot more of an in-depth look at the characters - perhaps having fewer characters would have helped...
as far as style, though, i did love the dark, grainy, black and white look - makes it a 'see also' for Pi...
i liked it, but, i was not overwhelmed - i wanted to be deeply emotionally impacted...

This movie is an observer documentary film which catches the realities that these select individuals encounter when living in these subway tunnels in NYC. Its amazing the inventive ways they have adapted to these living conditions to make them home-like and bearable to live in for 5+ years as some of the subjects do in the film. This film provides a unique look and it doesnt pass judgment onto the participants but gives them the once in a life time opportunity to show their points of view and how they make their current situation bearable. I recommend this to anyone who wants to take a look at the underbelly of NYC and see there is structure and chaos all rolled into one.
