Summary of Cold Fever
A charming, acclaimed Icelandic road saga about a Japanese man's spiritual quest through a snowbound landscape littered with winsome native inhabitants. Hirata is forced to cancel his annual golf vacation in Hawaii in order to fulfill a Japanese tradition. He must travel to the river where his parents were killed in an accident seven years earlier and perform the necessary rituals that will finally lay their souls to rest. Kristinsson's gorgeous photography elevates the seemingly lighthearted proceedings to a deeper, more soulful level. This juxtaposition, in the tradition of Jim Jarmusch's DEAD MAN, makes COLD FEVER a relevant, lasting experience.
