I hate that I will offend cult fans by my rating. Believe me when I say that, because I'm one of them. Sorry folks, but what a huge disappointment this movie was. This is the worst movie Kevin Smith has ever directed, and I've seen all of them at least twice. It seemed as if he got too far ahead of himself and lost touch with what made the first one good. I would explain what that is, but it would be like preaching to the choir. After watching for about 20 minutes and finding the main characters, I made a guess as to how the movie would end. Trim the fat and I was right on the money. I know what you might be thinking. The fat is the good part, right? There were parts that were perfect and made me laugh out loud, and I wanted to give it 3 stars based on that and the simple premise of actor recognition and cameos, but it just didn't have enough quality content to follow through. The climax of the film was ridiculous. Not to mention that it was flat out nasty. Even the semi-witty dialogue, and Jay and Silent Bob's antics couldn't save this movie. The damage was irreparable. This one is easy to rate. Two stars and a big BOO for making me extensively endure watching homosexual bestiality and the unhinging of an creepy little Jesus freak.

Clerks II wraps up the Clerks series in a logical conclusion that pays much homage to the original, and pleases fans of View Askew. Clerks II is just as disgusting, probably even more so depending on your morals, but by the end, it turns into a sweet story that no one is expecting. It's great to see the characters created by Smith once again, it's great to see they haven't changed in any way, and Rosario Dawson is a great addition to the cast. Of course, it's likely this won't satiate the desire for more Clerks films, simply because it's a story that could be done over and over without losing much. But I find myself surprised that I like this more than the original, and am rating it higher. It just goes to show that Smith has only gotten better at crafting a legitimate story over time, and understanding comedy in everyday situations and discussions better than anyone.

Okay, it has been a long time coming and I thank god for "An Evening With Kevin Smith" to keep my morbid sense of humor in tact. Clerks 2 delivers a non-stop comedic laugh fest that will have some people in stitches laughing and others headed for the exists in disgust (Joel Siegel).
Kevin's material is certainly not for everyone but his quick wit humor and crafty dialogue keep you chuckling and launghing outloud throughout the entire film. There are subjects in the film that are unplesant (inter-species erotica) but you have to appreciate Smith's ability to touch on subject matter that is uncomfortable for some, his genius is in his ability to deliver this content in a way that you just cant walk away from. I cannot remember the last time I laughed this hard in the theather, I want to see it again as soon as possible in fact.

Almost as funny as the one that started it all with some standout scenes, Star Wars vs Lord of the Rings for example. Nice to revisit and catch up with the characters ten years later.
