Clash of the Titans review:
This film is a remake of the 1981 film under the same title, and directed by Louis Leterrier. It is set in the mythical ancient Greek universe, and is based on the story of the Greek legend Perseus, who is the son of Zeus, and a demi-god living amongst men.
Unlike the original, this film lacks depth. It relies solely on visual effects and action, and almost completely forgets about the need for such things as character development, a drawn out storyline, and wit - in fact even the action is not that great - but instead Louis Leterrier seems to be hoping for an audience of shallow video gamers, since summed up it is a pure action that threatens to put the intellectual to sleep. This film is okay if all you want to see is big, scary monsters.
Half a star from me.

Somewhere between 2.5 and 3 for this one. I love the original cheeseburger with Harry Hamlin and his mechanical owl. When I first heard they were putting together a remake it semed an unnecessary heresy (perhaps this still holds true). No worries there, though, because they didn't really remake the first movie; they made up a whole new story that has as little to do with the first film as it does with the ancient Perseus myth. I agree with other reviewers that the action sequences are hyperactive, hyperbolic, and pretty well incomprehensible. And that's just in 2D, ha. The so-so-CGI monsters are wimpy caricatures compared to Harryhausen's creations. There are good and even great actors in the cast (Sam Worthington excepted) but most of them don't have anything to do, and look like wet wood doing it. Plot and dialogue are paltry at best. Fortunately, Mads Mikkelsen provides a welcome high point. Obvious and numerous flaws aside, the movie still provided me with a fairly fun ride, enough for close to 3 stars anyway. Most importantly, it retains one of the most notable qualities of its predecessor: Offering ample opportunities for amusing oneself and friends with scathing sarcasm and caustic wit at every turn. Now that's entertainment!

Not bad for what it was: a cheesy popcorn, rainy saturday afternoon matinee of action and adventure. Sam Worthington is as paper thin as ever, struggling to portray two dimensions, let alone 3(D). But if you are coming to Clash of the Titans looking for well developed characters you are in the wrong movie. Put your brain on hold, suspend disbelief and enjoy a movie with a good pace, a little humor and lots of action.

What could have been a beautiful story about a man who fights for his own destiny, was just a fighting movie with the poor excuse that it was his revenge wherefore he has to kill.

Saw this with a group of friends. although the effects were cute there was a lot of disappointing points about this movie. the lack of a solid cohesive plot was the worst thing. killing off major characters so early in the movie was another annoyance. the fact that the entire point of the movie seemed to be reason to move from one scene to another in order to fight some cgi monster just showed how much of a plot was missing. the fight with the kraken at the end was pretty disappointing also. they killed him too quickly and easily.
all in all, it was a fun movie to watch. but full price is not worth it, and i dont think 3D helped it at all.

3D Isn't Enough
This remake of the classic by the same name suffers from the same boring storyline. unfortunately the 3D effects don't make up for it.
