Writer/director Kevin Smith finally finds his voice: genuine tender emotion + d**k and fart jokes x ultra-smart pop-reference laden dialogue. Smith's final product (starring a young Ben Affleck and a pre-My Name is Earl Jason Lee) hits all the right notes in all the unexpected places. I certainly couldn't write a movie this balancedÂ…or unbalanced, depending on how you look at it. I still quote lines from it frequently. Also features the best dialogue from Smith's character Silent Bob, who you may guess, does not say much.

This movie shows Kevin Smith's offbeat sense of humor and cleverness. The storyline, about a heterosexual woman falling in love with a lesbian, could have gone terribly wrong. But since the storytelling is so real, the movie not only pulls it off...
