I wanted to like this alot more than I did. Unfortunatly, I didn't. Depp is actually TOO weird as Wonka. I had a hard time paying attention to the movie, I was so distracted by his effete performance. Just what is this affectation trying to say about the character of Wonka? I was under the impression this version was going to get more at the soul of the character, but aside from a cookie-cutter contrived flashback sequence that actually made me laugh (it's not supposed to be funny) the only thing I learned about Wonka is that he's most likely homosexual. Aside from that, not much is changed from the original. So, I ask, why 're-imagine' it at all? Not as pointless as Van Sant's version of 'Psycho'...but it's close.

There is not too much I can say about this movie. Being a fan of Tim burton, Johnnie Depp, and most of all Willy Wonka. This movie is a MUST HAVE! I can not stress enough how much i enjoyed this movie and everything about it. Loved the...

There is not too much I can say about this movie. Being a fan of Tim burton, Johnnie Depp, and most of all Willy Wonka. This movie is a MUST HAVE! I can not stress enough how much i enjoyed this movie and everything about it. Loved the Oompa-Loompas. there songs, Depps performance was amazing and really brought Wonkas character too life!

My little brothers loved it.

Johnny Depp shines in this remake movie. I have loved the story since I was a young boy, and love the first movie. This modern version is amazing, the story of Charlie Bucket who wins the golden ticket contest to get a tour of the famous Wonka chocolate factory. What follows is a tale full of special effects which unfold as a group of children takes the tour. Full of fun twists and turns, this movie is highly recommended but might be a bit too scary for young childeren.
