Incredibly beautiful movie. But it's not enough to be really good movie. Plot is rather weak, characters has a lot of white holes, acting is rather average. It doesn't catch your attention, I think it is even worst than weak plot and etc.

You know how sometimes you watch a movie and don't pay full attention to it, like you're checking your Google Reader and tweeting about how LeBron needs a pair of Depends after what Superman did to him?
That's this movie. Pay as much attention as you can to it, but it better not be Plan A, and when the score picks up it's insane fun. And even when it doesn't it's always kinda interesting.
But remember, think contraceptive, cuz this movie is PLAN B!

I'll concede with the consensus view that this is the closest we're likely to get to live anime. However, I will not say that this is the best sci-fi or Japanese film I've ever seen. It's one of the most beautiful, sure, but it's also rife with plot...

I'll concede with the consensus view that this is the closest we're likely to get to live anime. However, I will not say that this is the best sci-fi or Japanese film I've ever seen. It's one of the most beautiful, sure, but it's also rife with plot holes, characters who are inconsistent and too much use of the blur effect (as well as too many flashbacks with the war scenes). Casshern could have really used an independent editor and more work on the script. It's beautiful, but ultimately empty. I really wish that all the time and effort that was obviously spent on the visuals were better used on the basic plot line and script. This film could have been so much better than it ultimately was but its intended audience of cyberpunk and anime enthusiasts will surely have much to like.

This is a very confusing movie. I liked the action scenes and the flashy, stylized imagery. But the plot is convoluted and messy. The tagline for this movie is "Better than both Matrix sequels put together", and it's true. Just remember, both Matrix...

Do yourself a favor and YouTube the main action sequence and leave it at that. The rest of the movie is full of overdone CGI work and contains very little action outside of that one scene. Tried too hard, very 'anti-war' preachy.
