Throughout the years Casablanca as proved itself to be Americas grandest of romances. The whole production is flawless from every line delivery to the background wartime theme.Casablanca is the story of a love that could never be,two souls meant for each other but destined to be torn apart. The classic adoration of heart-wrenching love that cant be is just as blissful as ever and will never die out.Michael Curtiz as directed the rare film that most everyone enjoys and as time goes by I doubt anyone will stop.
Casablanca is a love triangle with a point missing.Rick Blaine(Bogart) and IIsa Lund(Bergman)have a history, they have a song and they have affection for one another.Victor Laszlo is the weight sinking them both.Victor is IIsas fugitive husband and of all the bars in the world, the couple walk into Ricks for assistance in escaping from the country. The entanglement between the former pair is inevitable, theyre chained together forever whether they want it or not but IIsa has feelings for Victor and cant leave him so easily.Victor has done so much for her and with Captain Renault(Rains)hot on his tracks they have little time to think things through. With some of the best characters in history, the actors really make this gem into a piece of heaven.
Winner of Best Picture,Writing, and Director as well as nominated for Actor and Supporting Actor at the 1944 Academy Awards, this film still receives less than it deserves.Sure it has reserved its spot among the greatest films of all time but its really worthy of its own holiday.A movie that touched so many people deeper then most is rewarding of something beyond great and Casablanca is just that, beyond great. The 102 minute experience alone gives us some of the greatest lines of all. With a love that is doomed, can Rick find his way back to IIsas heart.Millions have found out and will never forget.

Countless derivatives of this movie have been made since Casablanca was first released and I just couldn't overcome the feeling that I have seen it all before. To really enjoy this movie, you have to imagine yourself as seeing it when it first came out. If I didn't know that this is the movie from which most cliche's originated, I would say this is waste of time. I mean, isn't Laszlo just a little too healthy for having recently come out of a concentration camp? Still, I give it 3 stars out of respect for it's place in history.

I never understood why everyone always made such a big deal about Casablanca.
Then I watched it.
Do yourself a favor.

What can be said about this that hasnt been said already really. I hadnt seen this and Maltese Falcon, but watched them both in a weekend and they were just both incredible. For movies of the era, it stands out with top notch story, acting, set and sound. It is a movie that really never lets you go from start to finish and you never lose your interest. Even the secondary actors are a great treat and Id recommend this to anyone looking to catch old classics that never go out of style.

Love and war. always a perfect combination. This film has a really touching love story that develops unexpectedly. i could watch it over and over and i'm not even a chick flick fan. the final scene is too emotional but still doesn't feel fake or cliché, and that's what makes it so special. Casablanca really gets you into the plot and caring for the characters. But i think that most of its magic comes from the fact that (spoiler here!!) it doesn't have a happy ending, and even though we get a sentimental love story, it's still very realistic and ends right. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are definitely amazing here - they were perfect for their parts. Just watch it!!!

sixty-six years after it was made, this movie is great. bogart is at his best. who can forget lines like "we will always have paris" or "this is the beginning of a wonderful friendship." a must-see for the young and for the old.
