This movie is not for everyone.
It's slow as hell, the characters are not that interesting, it has long excruciating scenes of car driving ... BUT I liked it. I don't think this movie was intended to amaze you, shock you, or even make you think. It's a road trip movie, from the point of view of a man who has lost his passion for life, who's only doing it just because he has nothing better to do.

Sure, who hasn't. But what if Bill Murray didn't say a word to you on the entire, long, tedious road trip? What if you spent the entire road trip staring at Bill Murray, staring out a window? Still sound like fun? Well then this is the movie for you. For the rest of us, I recommend taking a pass on "Broken Flowers."

At first glance, Bill Murray seems like the perfect guy for the role. Hes financial successful, but hes not getting any younger and his most recent flame in a long line of flames just left him. Murrays deadpan delivery and sad face should have been the perfect fit. But it just doesnt work. Ill admit, Murrays got quite an unexpected but undeniable screen presence. Hes come a long way since Meatballs and has an impressive career behind him. Unfortunately, he seems to have trouble hitting his stride recently. In Broken Flowers its worse yet; he stumbles, trips, and actually falls. He tries so hard to bring back that lovable Murray we used to know, but only gets lost on the way.
The rest of the cast is equally talented yet unimpressive. The story rambles on with no particular destination in mind. Not only does the movie not make its point, it never even seems to have one. Broken Flowers felt like a giant hippopotamus treading water. It tries so hard to stay afloat, but ultimately it gives up and slowly drowns. That may sound harsh, but I was just floored by how bad this film was. I said to myself Its got Bill Murray in it. How bad can it be? How wrong I was.
Dont waste your time, unless yo enjoy being bored to death, or youre suicidal and need that last push to make it over the edge

Murray may have treaded this ground a few times already (a quietly morose yet quirkily quiet guy), but he just does it so well!! No one can quite do parts like this except Murray (maybe Jason Schwartzman, but he's too young for the parts), and Jarmusch's signature plodding pacing is more than welcome in a story that lends itself to introspection. The moribund qulaity of the film begs us to figure out these character's truths, and unlike most films like that, this excercise is actually quite rewarding when the credits roll.

Slow and difficult to understand
But thus who stay to watch will find and interesting story, and great characters. Very offbeat and gloomy as most of this director movies. Personally I connected much more to "ghost dog" .but this human and simple story will sure touch the hearts...
