DiCaprio is brilliant in this eye opening film about the tragic effects the diamond trade is having on Africa. A compelling story, exotic locations & plenty of action to keep things moving. A must see.

An amazing film. DiCaprio is riveting, and I'd say this is one of his best films.
Hopefully it will make people rethink their love affair with diamonds.

I waited for some time to see this film and when I finally got a chance to see it I understood all the attention it recieved.

I waited for some time to see this film and when I finally got a chance to see it I understood all the attention it recieved.
An amazing film that delivers and can take a topic that is not a popular cause and make you care about it. I thought it would be your typical Hollywood film that would turn into a happy ending but the film had plenty of reality based situations to make this a heavy hitting film about the diamond industry.

An interesting, powerful story. I'm not sure if 'conflict diamonds' are really an issue we need to care about or not (I'd have to do some research) but then again, the film doesn't necessarily tell us we have to care about the 'issue', as it does...

An interesting, powerful story. I'm not sure if 'conflict diamonds' are really an issue we need to care about or not (I'd have to do some research) but then again, the film doesn't necessarily tell us we have to care about the 'issue', as it does provide us with some likeable, interesting characters to devote ourselves to. DiCaprio's accent is questionable, and one wonders why it was necessary to the story; couldn't he have just played an American? Connelly is back in the business of earning her Oscar, and Hounsou once again shows he's one of the most under-appreciated actors of our times. The film is not a classic; there are plot holes and lack of subtlety that--while not greivous--prevent the film from entering the pantheon of the truly great, but it is better than most films getting made nowadays. And who knows? It might just be about an important issue.

"Blood Diamond" is not bad, but not much better than mediocre. It's not even about blood diamonds -- the political issue of conflict stones just serves to set the plot in motion. And a pretty unbelievable plot it is, as well as a totally predictable...

"Blood Diamond" is not bad, but not much better than mediocre. It's not even about blood diamonds -- the political issue of conflict stones just serves to set the plot in motion. And a pretty unbelievable plot it is, as well as a totally predictable one. We know all about the characters the moment we meet them, and even a Mormon would bet cash money that our bad man Leo will turn good by film's end. The acting's fine, but unless you're a fan of any of the actors, you might as well skip this one.
