Blades of Glory, 2007

More of a 2 1/2 star movie this is a re-hash of other comedys and at some points in the movie it turns into a feel-goos cheesy Disney film. I'm a sucker for Will Ferrell's fims and this one was stupid but I laughed at more than a few parts in the story. Another reviewer here said it best, it's a brainless film to see after a tough week.

Two funny actors and good premise but this film delivers somewhat disappointing results. This movie is funny enough and will entertain you for a night but this is not "Napoleon Dynamite" or "Anchorman" levels of humor here. The problem with this film is that while Heder and Ferrell are great no one else is at all memorable. I laughed and you probably will too but this movie is interchangeable and unmemorable. If you like anyone involved you should see this but do not expect high art, you were not expecting high art were you?

I was ready to absolutely hate this movie as I'm a huge fan of figure skating. However, I loved the cameos of figure skating stars and thought some of the spoofs were right on. I especially loved the interviews at the beginning - perfect takes on the interest pieces they do in figure skating right down to the cheesy pose shots at the beginning. I also liked some of the more background jokes like the stained glass at the house and the sex addict cards. Although not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, I did enjoy it. One downside was that Heder basically adapted his Napoleon Dynamite character to a new situation, so I wasn't very impressed with his acting. I also cringed when the skaters ran across seemingly miles of pavement and then were still able to skate on their edges. But overall a fun evening.
