Meet Bill is a simplistic story about a man not happy with his life who is shown how to achieve happiness by a spoiled teenage boy. I couldnt buy into this premise. There are a few moments of entertainment but not enough to recommend this movie....

Poor Bill. He is sort of a John Updike character, but rather than trying to survive at a Toyota dealership, Bill works a bit more upscale in the bank of his wife's father and is becoming an increasingly peripheral component to his own existence. Leading man Aaron Eckhart lets himself play here an essentially ordinary guy in a way that is loose and relaxed, getting even a bit rubbery-faced. He makes a great upper middle class Everyman. There are a lot of laughs in what is really a drama that won't let itself feel sorry for itself. Very funny for a mid-life crisis, which means avoiding the cheap laughs. I was occasionally wondering when this was going to get sad and sappy, but it happily emerges as a real comedy, although with a heart and brains. 2.09

Gotta agree with the majority of the reviews in that this has nothing memorable or unique that makes this stand out in any way. This starts off well enough with a husband in a sort of no-win situation and a no-win sense of personality, drive or self. However - while a film like American Beauty shows the pains and struggles of the characters in brutal reality, this makes everyone a caricature thats in no way interesting or provoking. There are some comedic moments, but nothing all too funny, and everyone just seems slightly bored with it all and in the end so was I. Theres no real point to this and thats quite a waste of acting talent unfortunately.

Meet Bill is a familar formula of a movie with a new twist. You have seen this type of film before where the low self-esteem character finds his calling but you might never have seen it quite like this. I got hooked within the first few minutes of watching it and you might too since the acting is great and the storyline keeps moving. You will be better served not to expect much since it's almost a romantic comedy but the type alot of guys won't mind watching with their ladies. Look our for the actor playing "The Kid" since he steals the show.

What a mess of a film. Here we have Aaron Eckhart - you know, the guy from Dark Knight who resembles the mutant lovechild of Robert Redford and Nick Nolte - as Bill, a fat, pathetic loser who inexplicably gets treated like crap by his wife, in-laws, co-workers, and basically life in general. What a brilliant job of casting. Jessica Alba also stars in it as the Elephant Man. No, actually she plays a beautiful, young woman with a boring personality whose presence holds no real significance to the story. Quite a stretch for her, eh? To be fair, though, Alba's actually the main reason to watch this film as at least she provides a pleasant-looking distraction from the completely unfunny, unrealistic, and unengaging plot. We're given no reason to like or care about Bill, even after he discovers his wife is cheating on him, and no reason to want to see how he'll go about "fixing" his sad, but not-sad-enough -to-be-interesting life. I'll just save you all some time now by telling you that after about 90 long minutes of Bill spinning his wheels, he finally gets a much needed haircut and - voila! - his personality is magically transformed and all his problems are solved. The end. Seriously.

Aaron Eckhart showed me in this movie that he is truly an actor. What I liked about this film is that you never really knew where it was headed. You may have some ideas about the donuts, but it never ceases to change course...... a mild 4 stars..
