Summary of Belphegor: Phantom of the Louvre
An impressive international cast, including Sophie Marceau (BRAVEHEART) and Academy Award winner Julie Christie, headline this big-budget French fright-fest reminiscent of such American counterparts as THE MUMMY, HOLLOW MAN (2000), and THE DA VINCI CODE. A terrifying ghostly spirit makes its way out if its tomb--a strange artifact brought back to the Louvre from Egypt--and into the celebrated museum's electrical system. Before long, innocent Lisa (Marceau) suffers an electric shock and becomes possessed with the spirit of mythical demon of temptation Belphegor, and the Louvre is transformed into a virtual slaughterhouse. This non-stop chiller was a box-office smash in its native France.
