A good movie for kids, but no so much for adults. It was cute and had some funny moments, but there was no uproarious laughter as I expect from Adam Sandler, crude humor or not. I highly reccommend saving your cash and waiting for this flick to come...

an enjoyable movie
stories were edited succesfully, especially these stories' adaptions to real life were good. but the end of movie and to be didactic effort were bad, a good idea was killed with these mistakes.

Before I saw the film, I was expecting a cheesy family fantasy with that special Sandler touch
(regardless of Quality of said touch).
And that's exactly what I got with Bedtime Stories.
This Disney comedy stars Adam Sandler as Skeeter, a guy who's left in charge of his niece and nephew.
He tells bedtime stories every night, which suddenly become true the next day.
The movie is not bad, but it lacks a certain creatvity that could be captured better with a different director than Adam Shankman (Bringing Down The House)
All in all, it'll amuse the kiddies, won't leave you totally bored, and left me with a feeling of wasted potential over the film's premise and execution.

Younger kids (and kids at heart) will likely enjoy this movie, it does have its fun moments, and being a Disney movie has some nice special effects, and Sandler does provide some good laughs. I just would have liked more focus to be on the kids and the development of the stories, and less on Sandlers character.

Sandler plays the uncle to some children who he has to babysit at the last moment, and puts them to bed by telling stories. I'll not spoil what happens with those stories, though I'm sure everyone knows already. As an adult, I found the movie okay, not great though. Most of the jokes and situations weren't altogether that funny or satisfying. The gerbil was overkill and the story felt fragmented, as if it weren't really complete. Now, with that said, watching a 5 year old watch this movie was a completely different experience. He found everything hilarious and loved the gerbil and all its little situations. Visually, it was very stimulating for him and therefore I must give this a good rating because - really - that's what they were aiming for. Had I not experienced this with a child, I may have given it less a rating but otherwise it gets a 4. So, take that into consideration if you're going to watch it.

I have wanted to see this for quite some time but was still very apprehensive as to how it would turn out but I was mighty surprised at how much I liked this movie. I think part of me went into this story because for as long as I can remember, I've always wanted a fairy tale to come true and when my mom would read me bedtime stories, I would imagine I was in them, just like the two little kids from this film did. This movie is a magical piece of art, even if it is 'just Disney' and it is the perfect family film. It is full of laughs and great characters but most important, it is very creative and each sequence is so real it feels like you are there (almost). Although the predictability factor is off the charts, it is still light-hearted and very cute and is definitely worth an hour or two of your time! Highly recommended 1/11/09
