This film is very good if you want to get your head around how people all around the world feel about the World Trade Organization , and the IMF. The International Monetary Fund. the protesters and the activists are as much Internationalists as the people and Organizations that they are targeting. I liked this film very much and I give it 4 STARS.

I'm droppin 4 on this, because I feel like a part of what it was trying to do, is just about near the best that's been done.
Bloody Sunday did it incredibly. Chicago 10 did it decently, but was mostly about the politics surrounding it and the hypocrisy of government. (Besides it was mostly a documentary, I'm looking forward to Chicago 7) Other than that I can think of many movies, unless you're the type to count Children of Men.
But yea, this movie fumbles the message they're trying to send and the character arcs are slacking, but past that. It gives a really strong feeling of why a person would protest, and what a protest mindset is.
I think it's easy to ignore that, and say, ok these people are protesting, whatever, what's their message? Are they right or wrong? Did it work or not? The end.
This lingers in the protest itself. Sure a lot of people understand the issues and stand for them, but the whole process of pretest is where it's at. It's where you get sucked into an emotional and community phenomenon. It's a mess of positivity and progress and possibilty. Everyone there feels alive and of the same mentality. It's peace by will. Yea, it's sappy, but it's like a Conga line breaking out at a wedding. Everyone's a dork for it but it's the emotion of the event that sucks even the non-believers (dancers) in.
So...yea...says here it starts Streaming 8/7/09, you got a week to wait.

3-18-09 Where this movie succeeds is in presenting an event most of us have forgotten. Where this movie fails is in its character stories in an attempt to be a drama. Battle in Seattle is interesting in a historical context, but writer-director Stewart Townsend tries to make it more than a depiction of the actual events. There seems to be subplots which have limited significant connection to the general message of the movie. The two most out-of-place characters are Dale (Woody Harrelson) and Ella (Charlize Theron). Theron was wasted in this film, and I suspect only in it because she is Townsend's girlfriend. Her role is minor and could have been cut out completely. For those that either don't know about it, or don't care about it, this movie drags. None of the main characters really seem that likable. They don't organize the protest specifically because of the WTO. The leader, Jay (Martin Henderson), is only in it because he leads any protest he can since his brother was killed at one a few years ago. His girlfriend, Lou (Michelle Rodriguez), seems more compelled to show loyalty to him than to the cause. The rest of the protesters are there for various reasons, none of which are specific to the WTO. I found it hard to pull for any of them. Watch this movie with reservations, and I suggest reading up on the actual events ahead of time. Battle in Seattle is a made-up story thrown into an actual event. Two stars. tinyurl.com/cqfj99
