Nothing reminds me of my childhood like Back to the Future. Ive watched this movie at least fifty times in my life, and it never gets old. Great movie. Its only flaw is that it is inherently dated since it relates to time.

This is the ultimately inspiring yet deeply troubling tale of a man who overcame a serious and debilitating mental illness to become one of the most recognizable fashion icons of the 20th Century. Of course I'm referring to none other than Mr. Calvin Klein. Few know of this branding guru's early years, during which he struggled to overcome enormous obstacles, such as a severe dissociative disorder, paranoid schizophrenia, prolonged and extreme blurring of familial roles/boundaries... not to mention repeated exposure to 1.21 gigawatt electrical bursts generated by a highly radioactive fuel source.
Klein experienced a turbulent childhood and teen years marked by several unexplained disappearances, which were later explained by Klein to others as periods of "time travel" in which he assisted an imaginary friend in the guise of a friendly, helpful "Doctor" persona who was most certainly a psychic stand-in conjured up from Klein's need for a strong central role model and father figure in his life. In fact, Klein's whereabouts during these episodes remains unknown. Back To The Future, questionably chooses to fill in these gaps through buying into Klein's mania wholesale, attempting to vomit his reportedly transcendentalized, time-unstuck meltdown on to the screen literally as some sort of morality play for the mentally enfeebled.
Does it work? On occasion. Perhaps though, Zemeckis should have stuck to a straightforward biopic of the personality instead of dwelling on the mad inner workings of genius that can get too bogged down in pure imagery and pathos. However it IS very important for the young of our species to understand that Calvin Klein invented down vests, kickflips and rock n roll. So basically... suck on that Hilfiger.

This movie is the premiere Science Fiction movie of the 80s, not to mention the highest grossing film of 1985, the first one of an excellent trilogy, the inspiration for one of Universal Studio's coolest rides and the launching point of Michael J. Fox's career. So as you can guess the movie is pretty damn cool. All 3 of them are excellent. A fun movie for the whole family proving that a movie rated PG can be fun.
A great story and great acting by both Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd is what sets this movie beyond the usual scifi flick. The DeLorian is incredibly cool and the effects are amazing for it's time. If you've never seen them take the time to do so and if you have this is one of those movies you'll never grow tired of.
By the way there are talks about making a 4th and 5th entries to the series, however that's a little hard considering it's been almost a decade and the movie is very dependent on then 17 year old character of Michael J. Fox.

One of the best
25 years has passed and I still feel it is one of the best.
Combines good humor, nice plot, playing with time and space.
I would love to see a new movie liek that.

You can tell the writers put their hearts and souls into creating the characters and the storyline. There's absolutley nothing I don't like about this movie. It's that great.

Pure Fun
This is what cinema is all about. 2 hours of pure fun, and at the end you find a big grin glued to your face. It's a great time travel fantasy, intelligent yet simple, that manages to move and excite. Doc and Marty's over-acting blends perfectly with the film's frantic pace and light attitude, and the overall feeling is that the cast and crew enjoyed every minute on the set and didn't take anything too seriously. The story is well crafted, and actually every aspect of the filmmaking is perfect. More than 20 years past and the film has aged well - it's as good as it was the day it was released.
