I have to agree with other reviews I've read here (unfortunately I read them AFTER watching the movie). I usually enjoy Vin Diesel action flicks. This one had a lot of promise, but did not deliver. The characters were never developed, nor was the story line. You had absolutely no understanding of why anything in the movie was happening; you were just shown the "Oh, look how talented we are at action scenes" shots. I really do think the story could have been interesting had it actually been incorporated into the movie in a more prominent fashion. As it was, we stuck it out until the end (!) and said "huh?"
Don't bother with this one.

Attempting to rejuvenate Vin Diesel's flailing Hollywood career, this post-apocalyptic actioner does attempt of course to accomplish this but the key word here is attempt. Not saying that he is not capable of being in great movies, it is just that this was not one of them. Including only a few talented actors(including a one Gerard Depardieu), Babylon A.D. had a good idea and amazing special effects but was quite choppy in direction and focus in regards to the flow of the characters and their development in the film. At no point does one feel much emotion for any character or drive for their goals in the movie nor does the film appear as no more that eye candy for science fiction fans. I must admit that I was so detached from the movie that started to fast forwarded half way through the film just to prevent myself from cringing any more during non action sequences. Avoid this bland genre entry and instead re watch some films that this attempts to congregate with: Blade Runner, 12 Monkeys, Logan's Run, The Road Warrior, and THX 1138 to name a few.
