Baby Mama, 2008

It's ok. Most of the funny lines go to Greg Kinnear for some reason. That's really it though, it's ok. Come to think of it, a lot of the other funny parts go to Dax Shepard. Pretty weird that it's a female star vehicle and all the funny parts are from the men. I'm not saying this to be sexist. I'm commenting on the fact that it's written and directed by a guy. I don't think he really gets women, especially not the comedic voice of women. Steve Martin's character is great also, the more I think about it, the more I want Tina Fey to have co-written this movie.

This movie's plot sounds like a rejected TV sitcom idea - a female odd couple forced to live together, but it has so much heart and so many laughs it turns out to be so much more. Tina Fey is her usual smart, neurotic self and Amy Poehler holds her own with her own not-so-one-dimensional character (which isn't as "trashy" as she appears in the trailer). They each get their share of laughs portraying two women who really couldn't be any more different. The ending is a little too sacharine - even for this kind of movie - but the rest of the movie makes up for it by being smart, funny, and just sweet enough.
