This is indeed one of my favorite films. The script gets better and better every time you watch it, and the characters are so richly round that it leaves you wanting more of them when the movie is finished.

Another movie about an ugly old man bedding a bright, shapely younger woman. But, hey--that's not my complaint. I had a problem with all the other cheap cliches: annoying small dog subplot, goofy non-threatening single gay man, and, most irritatingly, the rainstorm out of nowhere that strands the heroine in her t-shirt without a bra. Gee, it seemed like a pretty day when she boarded that city bus! And what exactly did that have to do with the plot? Helen Hunt gives a pleasant, bland performance that did not rise to my expectations for the silver screen--she should stick with TV sit-coms.

Touching and worthwhile

nice romantic comedy
A good-hearted single mother and an obnoxious, middle-aged writer with OCD. Definitely a recipe for a romance by Hollywood standards... This is a very nice romantic comedy.
