Younger Generation Checking In
This film is directed mainly toward younger audiences, per the cast members and marketing. So does it succeed?
Kinda. I've only seen one other Allen film, which was plenty to recognize that Jason Biggs was cast to be a younger him, and it is incredibly awkward to watch - not only because it's weird, but because Allen is intrinsically annoying, and Biggs isn't even particularly good at it.
Ricci, on the other hand, manages to work with the material while still acting fresh. I hear that this is all a lame rehashing of Annie Hall, but I've never seen it, so I wouldn't know.
The film is far more introspective and witty than the vast majority of romantic comedies out today, but it's also more slow-moving, boring, and even MORE unbelievable (critics have commented on how Allen has created some nonexistent generation in the couple). Overall a variety of incredibly witty and funny lines made the film likable for me - likable enough, in fact, that I can now better bear Allen and am curious to see the films that are supposed to be his good 'uns.

I can see why others dislike this movie (read all the other reviews on this page for those reasons) but I didn't dislike it. I think the dialogue, although not top-notch Allen, is still above par and the moments when everything seems 'pretentious' or 'forced', well...that's the way these characters are, so showing them in their natural state in such a fashion is nothing short of brilliant. Admittedly, Ricci and Biggs simply are not entirely up to the material, but they give it a good shot.I

surely one of the less worthy movies by Woody Allen. actually it looks like a film student's attempt on recapturing the Woody Allen style.
