Amadeus is little more than a character study/dark comedy disguised as a period piece, and it works. Amadeus is a searing film that has lost none of its power, the acting by Abraham and Hulce is just a great as it was in the eighties, and the writing and dialog are tightly written. The charm here is the atmosphere, it's dark and twisted, like something is bubbling under the surface waiting to burst out. The costume design and sets are fantastically constructed and evoke the "Once Upon a Time..." feel without going overboard. This is an intelligent flick that anyone can enjoy.

I don't have anything to add that someone else hasn't already said. I am only writing this to let everyone know that this is one of the best movies, ever. Don't worry about historical accuracy; it has enough historical value to at least make sense....

Don't worry about historical accuracy; it has enough historical value to at least make sense. This movie is funny, witty, suspenseful, highly intelligent; poignant in all senses of the word! Highly recommended.

DVD really pays off when there is good music. I find Amadeus on DVD way better than in the Theater because of the sound. Great to"watch" with the Music-Only sound track. Beautifull movie.
