AGORA: I have always loved watching movies starring RACHEL WEISZ, This is one of my favorite movies and I highly recommend it. RACHEL always give 100%, and her acting is always very convincing and spot on. I give this movie 5*****STARS.

Tiring and melodramatic look at proto-dark-ages, when stoning was everyones favorite pastime. Amenábar tried to make more ambitious 'sword and sandals' film, but the drama doesn't work and the film doesn't do justice for the story of Hypatia. Budget...

Amenábar's worst
Tiring and melodramatic look at proto-dark-ages, when stoning was everyones favorite pastime. Amenábar tried to make more ambitious 'sword and sandals' film, but the drama doesn't work and the film doesn't do justice for the story of Hypatia. Budget restrains shows is those mediocre CGI aerial shots. I never thought religion bashing can be so boring and depressing.

Excellent piece of cinema
This movie really grabs you, deep in your gut. Set in the Roman Empire this is the impossible live story between a master and servant, on the background of social issues such as religion and discrimination.

The film tells the extraordinary story of Hypatia of Alexandria, a strong woman with high opinions of her own. An intense plot featuring a wonderful performance of a wonderful actress, this movie is one to remember.

Aside from this I truly appreciate the special effects and the great landscapes and views they show, 3D Rendered, obviously.
