It seems like the others reviewers here feel guilty for liking this. I have no guilt, I love this movie. This is no '80's hipster crapfest like "St. Elmo's Fire", it has a real script. I had a crush on Demi Moore for years after this. She was smoky voiced and engaging, and I considered stalking her but just couldn't find the time. Stalking takes true commitment, so I just built a ceremonial shrine to her instead. I thought Jim Belushi was going to become the next big comic star, he's really funny here, and Rob Lowe was good. I'm not kidding, he was good. Okay, I'll concede that this is an "iffy" cast, but that doesn't take anything away from David Mamet's perceptive observations of the dating scene. I was in my early twenties when this came out, the same age as the characters, and this movie gets a lot of things right about that era and the difficulty in trying to maintain a relationship at that age. Young men and women do act as knuckleheaded as this - I know I did. You did too, admit it. Youth is wasted on the young. Apparently Hollywood gave this a happy ending which wasn't in Mamet's stage play, and it annoys his fans, but I don't care about all that. I like the happy ending. It makes me feel all mushy inside, like I have feelings or something. The only thing wrong with this flick is the money I wasted over the years waiting for Demi Moore to make another good movie. I'm still waiting as I stare at those ridiculous balloons on her chest, watch her act like she's twenty and listen to her jaw clenching smoke-free line readings. Sadly, my crush on her withered when I found out how weird she was. (Do you want to know what Demi Moore is doing right now? I'll tell you. She's exercising. She's ALWAYS exercising.)

The movie is about the couple Danny and Debbie. They are a modern couple that meet under less than traditional means. The movie has a brisk pace and showcases the struggles modern couples have with balancing lives, love and dating. The acting was not great, but it was in the 5 dollar movie bin at Wal-Mart. Demi Moore looked amazing. Her character was captivating.
Rob Lowes character provided the everyman type of gut.
Overall is is a great date movie.
Not the best love story, but certainly not the worst.
Its worth it just to see two young actors make a good out of an otherwise weak script.
