This is bold post-apocalyptic sci-fi, and although it indeed is terribly acted and quite obviously very low-budget, one can't help but be drawn in by it's balls-to-the-wall ethos: listen, the future involves alot of wandering men raping women, and this film is not afraid to acknowledge that. Now, of course, I am not condoning such a future, but in the type of future 'A Boy and His Dog' predicts, I'd be willing to wager you can't deny the plausibility of it...and not many films would acknowledge such a low, dirty human truth. There are a lot of other low, dirty human truths explored here; really, this is a film of ideas. I don;t say this very often, but: this film needs a remake, because with all it's grandiose vision and gutsy plot devices, it deserves a higher production value and quality performances. Just please let Alfonso Cuaron (or somebody else as cool) do it.
