So what if there is no outstanding acting int his film, it is beautiful and epic and total how Greek war mythology should be displayed on screen.

I really don't understand what everyone else got out of this movie. I found it really annoying. The narration is pointless and repetitive to the effect of... "I'm angry." narrator: "He was angry." Even the hyped up stylism of the film is irksome, sure the coloring is lush and unique, but theres only so many times you can use slo-mo fast-mo before it's completely meaningless, and that happens before they even see battle. Many of the beasties they face aren't even as impressive looking as the characters in fantasy films from the early 80's. I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

Unbelievable movie! Gerry Butler plays fantastic leaders and he is no different here. I would say that this is his best performance ever. And I've seen 95% of his movies. I'd follow this guy into battle any time. However, the only thing that really bothered me, is the same thing that bothered me in Troy. The ancient Greeks didn't speak w/ British accents. Granted Gerry worked hard to hide his Scottish one and did well, but the other guys...That's one of the things about non-British historical movies that bothers me. They always have to speak w/ friggin British accents. I also thought that they could've done w/ out the gratuitous nudity. They could've covered the girls up some. And for heaven's sake, the Spartans didn't fight half naked! They wore a ton of armor. Not in this movie though! Granted it was nice watching a bunch of half naked men running around, but it wasn't historically correct. Overall, this movie was beautifully done. It's one of the few movies that I actually felt like a part of. After it was over, I was pumped! I wanted to go out and kick some bad guy butt!

a unique experience
I watched this in a movie theater in Vitebsk, while on a trip with my mom to Belarussia. For that reason alone, it will always have a special place in my heart.

One of the best lines in the movie comes from David Wenham (playing Dilios) is asked if he can continue with only one eye, to which he responds: "Hardly, my lord, it's just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare." Hilarity!

I may still call it a love story....for guys.
Despite it's stylized visuals and amazing "manly moments", 300 still has a love story at its heart. Great movie to test your new home theater setup.

They were in my opinion the highpoint. As far as the movie content its self I think my wife summed it up best on the way out of the theater... " With a little clever editing that could be rereleased as gay porn." So if you're up for a little cinimax style gay porn, this could be the movie for you.

First off I found this movie to be very offensive to blacks, the physically disabled, and homosexuals. But on the other hand the movie looked spectacular and straight out of Greek mythology itself. First you have the chiseled warrior Spartans with their highly defined body and action figure like mentality, and then the Spartan women with their bitchy attitude and rock hard nipples, but most importantly the randomness of goat creatures playing the flute. However outside of all the blood and interchanging heavy metal music, there really seem to be something missing with the story. I enjoyed the scenes leading up to the battles, but once the story went there it didn?t go anyplace, just like the Persian army. It did cut back to Sparta too a political sub plot that seemed to be straight out of Gladiator, but those characters weren?t present enough for the audience to care about them. That seemed to be the main problem, just spreading the story thin, and not elaborating enough like on the hunchback or the main antagonist, Xerxes. And speaking about cross dressers, on to the offensive part of the film. They portrayed black people, aka Persians, as incapable of making the white man their slaves, and incompetent in battle as a slew of them would be slaughtered one by one. The hunchback in the movie was depicted as useless and vengeful and not clear headed and greedy, which disgusted me. And Xerxes the homo leader was very overdramatic, dressed as if he had no identifying genitalia, and sounded like a combination of Devine and Harvey Fierstein, and that should make any homosexual mad. But alas severed heads counts for something, so I will give 300 a

Well, the special effects are incredible and 300 has an interesting, unique look and feel. However, if you were to take only the scenes that contained storyline and plot, the movie would have been 10 minutes long. Even at the halfway mark, I felt like someone had taken the climactic final battle scene generally located at the end of a movie, stretched it out for 100 minutes and later went back and interspersed some "non-battle" dialog here and there. I guess I wasn't in the right mood for two hours of blood, guts, gore and fighting. If YOU are, rent this movie NOW! ("Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?") I didn't hate it so maybe I'll rent this again someday and give it a second chance. Maybe.
