Disagree all you want but the vampire world needed this movie. Enough brooding self loathing. This movie delivered vicious and thirsting monsters. Like – extremely thirsty. A month of permanent darkness in Alaska, isolated from the rest of the world, and unable to communicate with it. The setting alone sets a desperate struggle for survival and an ominous mood. Seriously if you like the animalistic vampires that have fled from the big screen then check this out. (directed by David Slade)

Good Movie, but if you get scared easily do not watch!
This was a good movie & I use to watch a lot of horror films back in the day along with my best friend, but now that I am an adult & a little older I don't care for them that much unless they have to do with tech or something in the future or a space ship, but I must say this movie was very good, but scary as all heck. What is scary to me is the vampire/werewolves teeth & faces & how there faces move like a wild animal that is rabbit & foaming at the mouth. When these things come arounf in this movie I find my self turning from looking at there faces (Funny) never thought that I would be a wuss, but as I get older I think I get softer or something & I loose my taste for scary movies. But very good movie if to be scared is what your looking for.

Good horror film with excellent production design and cinematography, but not enough character development. I didn't know any of the people in the movie well enough to really care who survived, but the 'vampires' were really intriguing (whoever created their languange should be hired by Paramount for the next 'Star Trek' movie). I've always been a fan of Josh Hartnett's ('Lucky Number Slevin' being one of my favorite films), so there was that appeal. Overall, worth my time.

There are definitely some problems in the plot department, but they are completely eclipsed by the positive aspects of the film. Excellent cinematography brings the desolate location to life. The film manages to do something new with vampires, and in the process it makes them monsters again. These vampires aren't trying to charm their way into your home, or seduce you into giving up blood - they are flat-out slaughtering you. All in all, a very enjoyable film.

Ugh. Not scary in any way. It starts off with a great scene with Ben Foster - who puts in the best acting in the movie and then slides downhill from there on out. The premise has potential but they do absolutely nothing new with it - just vampire like creatures that you learn nothing about killing a town with neck biting scenes. Danny Huston plays a great bad guy - but he's given too little to work with. The rest of the vampires are reduced to teeth baring growl cut-scenes here and there. George is forgettable and Hartnett is unfortunately weaker in his role. The ending, I agree, is terrible. Overall interesting but not at all exciting or thrilling.

I'm really of two minds on this film. the vampires were cool and there was gore aplenty, the scenery was dark and macabre, which should add to the intensity of a film. Yet what could have been a great film left me wondering. The vampires called to each other with a primal screech and they had their own language, but there didn't seem to be any point to their actions. The blood fest was more about gore and dismemberment then about feeding. It made me wonder what was the point? Did they even have one or was there simply nothing better to do for the month. Will there be a sequel and what more could they disclose with such a disjointed plot? If all you look for is gore without reason, then you most definitely would like this movie. If you are looking for something that creeps into your mind and stays with you, I'd suggest seeing something else.

How many times has the vampire genre made a little twist just for something a little different to make it fresh? A few times the vampire folklore has made some changes but has always stayed true to the appearance of what they look like. However, this one is very different. This movie throws out the romantic idea of vampirism & brings in the pending doom of what they are & what they are after, as it should. They are wicked, wild, and relentlessly hungry. They only come out at night. But is there any escape for an entire secluded town with a month long night? You have to see for yourselves ;)
