A Fairly Simple and Short Review for 2:37
2:37 is an amazingly touching and emotional movie, not always realistic, but still a must-see movie for older teens. The message behind this brilliant film is that even when everyone has their own problems; it's too easy to get wrapped up in those issues, and ignore anyone who may try to help, which could be the person who cries for help louder than anyone else does, but is too "in-the-background" for anyone to hear.
What does take away from the movie, is that the movie covered any and all possible problems for teenagers at once, making it slightly unrealistic. However, I wouldn't say this takes too much away, but it would make someone dislike the movie if they are big on realism. My personal opinion is that the "extremist" ways of showing these problems just adds to the movie. It's still worth a watch, although if you ARE sensitive to sexual references and scenes, strong language, and you don't enjoy seeing blood/gore in movies, you may want to think about whether or not you'll enjoy this film.
As you can read below, I give 2:37 a 9/10.

Oh man is this movie annoying. It's basically a rumination on how tough the lives of some bourgeoisie Australian kids are. Everyone cries nonstop, they lash out in anger, they bottle their anger and repressed emotions up, they feel too much pressure, etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah. This was made either by a kid who was picked on too much or by a kid who was popular in high school but thought he was also really deep and misunderstood--and now he gets his chance to tell the world. Previous reviews citing the performances are probably written by those involved in the film, for they're all very typical, seemingly pulling techniques out of an acting class in every scene. The director also does utilize the same shooting style as Van Sant in Elephant, with the long dramatic takes, and showing the same scene multiple times from different characters' perspectives. This is melodramatic, standard crap. Obvious rip-off of Elephant. Also reminds me of the fellow garbage of Dare, from last year. If this movie were the way life actually is, lives would just consist of three stages: 1. Life defined by repressed homosexuality 2. Succumbing to repressed homosexual tendencies, finally having gay sex, or maybe just incestuous sex. 3. Committing suicide.
