Profile of 1999
The mood of 1999 is humorous and sexual. The plot centers around misfit partners, weddings, and thirtysomething life. It is a drama, comedy, and independent movie. In approach, 1999 is realistic. It takes place, at least partly, in an urban environment. The setting is New York. 1999 happens in the 1990s. Visually, it is partly black and white and is black and white. It is especially suggested for a girls' night and a date night.
Summary of 1999
It is the turn of the millennium, and Rufus King (Dan Futterman) wants to make it a momentous night. At a friend's New Year's party, the twenty-something Rufus is poised to break up with his sweet girlfriend and make a move on a sexy office mate (THE WHOLE NINE YARD's Amanda Peet.) In addition to this romantic triangle, the party's dissatisfied host must grapple with his overbearing father (the legendary actor and screenwriter Buck Henry.) An independent dramedy with a New York edge, 1999 deftly explores issues of growing up and becoming mature.
